From a young age, I (John) have always had a fascination with stainless steel and its incredible durability. Growing up in South Africa, where the traditional braai is a part of everyday life, I quickly realized how important good fire tools are for bringing people together — family, friends, and great food around the fire. What I never understood was why so many braai tools were made from mild steel. While they may be cheaper, they require constant maintenance. You can clean and respray them many times, but eventually rust appears and the process starts all over again. Over the years I noticed that the right fire utensils can make the difference between an average braai and a truly enjoyable experience. The right tools not only improve the cooking process, but also the atmosphere and mood around the fire. These observations inspired me to create Stainless Legends.
